Warrington and Halton Greens support action on fuel poverty

1 February 2016

Warrington and Halton Green Party supports Age UK's Cold Homes Week, with the charity calling on the Government to reform its energy efficiency schemes to enable all older people to live in a warm home.

In 2013, it was estimated that almost 7000 households in Warrington 5000 households in Halton were fuel poor, with last winter seeing 6000 excess winter deaths in the north-west.

Some of the poorest people in Britain have to choose between having a cold home and going hungry. As part of their 2015 election manifesto, the Green Party pledged to provide a free nationwide retrofit insulation programme, which would take at least 2 million homes out of fuel poverty.
